Thimphu, Paro and Punakha Tour Overview

Thimphu, Paro and Punakha Tour Itinerary

Day 1
After completion of immigration formalities at the Paro Airport exit door, you will be met by your Bhutanese Guide and get transferred to Thimphu. Enroute stop at Chuzom, confluence of Wang Chhu and Pa Chhu rivers. On arrival check in at the hotel. Evening free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 2
After breakfast you would be taken for tour of Thimphu City. You would be visiting Kuensel Phodrang, Buddha Statue; National Memorial Chorten, a Stupa built in 1974; Folk Heritage Museum, traditional 3 storied house; Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temple in Thimphu and Motithang Takin Reserve, a wildlife reserve centre for Takin. In the evening visit Tashichho Dzong, Fortress of the Glorious Religion. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 3
After breakfast you would visit School of Arts & Crafts popularly known as Zorig Chusum; Coronation Park, a popular picnic spot with a giant statute of Buddha and Bhutan Postal Museum showcasing the evolution of communications and postal system in the country. Later in the day you will be driven to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. Later halt at Dochula Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,100 mts. From here on a clear sunny day, you get a magnificent view of the Himalayas. The landmarks around the pass includes 108 Druk Wangyal Stupas built under the patronage of Queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. Later check in at the hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha / Wangdue.
Day 4
After breakfast visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, a temple plus nunnery perched on a ridge overlooking Toebesa, Punakha and Wangduephodrang valleys, Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan built above the Po Chhu River, Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs of Bhutan located at the confluence of Mo Chhu and Po Chhu Rivers built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Chimi Lhakhang also known as "The Temple of Fertility" built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, "Devine Mad Man". It is a short hike of around 30 - 45 minutes. Punakha is also one of the few places in Bhutan which offers white rafting facility, which can be done on direct payment basis. (Please let the guide know a day in advance in case you want to do rafting the next day). Evening is free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha / Wangdue
Day 5
After breakfast, you would be driven to Paro. Later you would be driven to Paro. Enroute stop at Royal Botanical Garden at Lamperi, Bhutan's first botanical park. Later stop at Tamchog Lhakhang. On arrival at Paro visit Ta Dzong, national museum; Paro Rimpung Dzong, Buddhist monastery and fortress; walk down to Nemi Zam Bridge, a traditional covered cantilever bridge. Later check in at the hotel. Evening free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 6
After breakfast visit TAfter breakfast visit Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), home of gods and monks located at an altitude of 3100 mts in the Upper Paro Valley, Bhutan. The hike to the Monastery takes about 5 - 6 hours to complete. As the hike to Taktsang Monastery is steep coupled with stiff stairs, it is not recommended to take the hike with small children and elderly people. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Day 7
After breakfast, you would be taken for an excursion to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable pass in Bhutan and separates Paro Valley and the Haa Valley. From here you can also see Paro Valley on side and Haa Valley on the other. Later return back to the hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.
Day 8
After breakfast you would be dropped at the Paro Airport for your return journey. Tashi Delek!

  • Exclusive Non a/c vehicle for all transfers & sightseeing as per itinerary. The concept of disposal vehicles is not practiced in Bhutan. The guide and the vehicle shall be available with the guests from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. Supplemental charges for AC in the vehicle shall be applicable

Exclusions

  • Air Fare/Train fare, insurance premium, any other activities like rafting, archery etc for which supplemental charges will be applicable to be paid by the guests directly.
  • VISA (SDF)
  • Personal expenses such as laundry, telephone bills, bar bills, tips & gratuity, bottled water etc.
  • Entrance Fees for museums and monuments, Upgradation Charges and Optional Tours to be paid by the guests directly on the spot.
  • Any additional costs because of additional sightseeing; extra usage of vehicle; unforeseen events like landslides, blockades etc.; imposition of new taxes; increase in taxes or fuel price which impacts costs of surface transportation will be recovered directly from the guests.
  • Goods & Services Tax (GST) and TCS (5%)
  • Anything which is not included in the inclusion.

Notes

  • GST 5 % extra (or any other rate as notified by the Government) on total bill amount.
  • Rates quoted above are on per person basis. Rates may vary with increase or decrease of persons.
  • The rates are valid for Indian nationals only holding valid Indian Passport or Voter I Card.
  • The above quote is valid for 15 days from the date of quotation. Kindly send your confirmation within the time limit or else the quoted rate will vary.
  • The above is just a quote on the basis of your requirement. We are not holding any rooms against this quotation.
  • Most of the rooms in all hotels at Bhutan are twin bedded rooms. Very limited rooms have king size bed. King size bedded rooms will be provided subject to availability only. If the same is unavailable the hotel shall provide twin bedded rooms only.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Cancellation Request has to be sent to us by Email. Such cancellation charges shall also be applicable on reduction of rooms after initial confirmation. Cancellation charges shall also be applicable if the guests fail to show up for any flight or train cancellations.
  • High Season (March, April, May, September, October and Nov)
  • Cancellation made within 31-60 days from the date of arrival: 50%
  • Cancellation made within 30 days from the date of arrival: 100%
  • Low Season (Jan, Feb, Jun, Jul, Aug, Dec)
  • Cancellation made within 11-30 days from the date of arrival: 50%
  • Cancellation made within 10 days from the date of arrival: 100%
  • Cancellation against Premium and 5 * like – (Uma Paro, Zhiwa Ling, Nak-Sel, Aman Group, Taj Tashi, Le Meridien & Others as Mentioned case wise) have a very strict cancellation policy, which are as follows:
  • No refunds on the advance/ prepayment made for holding the booking.
  • In case of confirmed bookings full payment has to be made 65 days prior otherwise the booking against advance / prepayment will be auto cancelled.
  • 100% cancellation will be charged for all bookings falling under 65 days from the date of arrival.
  • No refunds will be extended for early departures or any king of amendments.
  • Child Policy:
  • Please note the following points for Child Policy:
  • Child below 5 yrs complimentary
  • Child 5 -10 yrs without extra bed as mentioned in the cost column (CWB = Child Without Bed)
  • Above 10 years / Extra adult with an extra bed sharing room are charged as per (EPSR)
  • The above is the standard policy as followed by 3 star and below hotels. You are requested to produce documents in support of the child age to the hotels as and when asked by them.
